The human-factors advantage

Your hand is already on the throttle

A go-around demands timely power application, positive aircraft control and correct flight-director mode selection. A panel-mounted button requires a separate reach at the moment throttle control matters most.

throttleQ™ brings the command to the power-control hand. Apply power and activate the configured TO/GA mode from the same operating position—without adding another button to the instrument panel.

The throttle-hand principle

A critical command should feel instinctive

Established cockpit-installation guidance recognizes a simple human-factors truth: the Go-Around command should be easy to reach and easy to locate without a visual search.

throttleQ™ applies that principle directly. The TO/GA button sits at the power-control hand, allowing the pilot to manage power and activate the configured avionics command from the same operating position.

01

Reach without relocating the handThe command is integrated into the throttle grip instead of occupying a separate panel position.

02

Locate by position and touchA consistent, dedicated control position supports immediate tactile identification.

03

Keep attention where it belongsDirect access avoids an unnecessary search across a custom instrument-panel layout.

What the TO/GA command does

Exact annunciations and system behaviour depend on the installed avionics, approved configuration and aircraft-specific setup.

01

On the ground

Takeoff mode

Activates the configured Takeoff flight-director mode, providing the applicable command guidance for departure.

02

In flight

Go-Around mode

Activates the configured Go-Around flight-director mode so the pilot can transition from approach guidance to climb guidance.

03

Integrated avionics

Configuration matters

Compatible Garmin navigators, displays and autopilot components may provide additional missed-approach functions when properly interconnected and configured.

Important: The TO/GA switch sends a command to compatible avionics. It does not move the throttle or apply engine power. The pilot remains responsible for power application, aircraft control and verification of all active modes.

Physical characteristics

Engineered for the Sling cockpit

Machined components, familiar throttle geometry and an integrated momentary switch come together as one focused control assembly.

01

Integrated TO/GA control

The black momentary push button is positioned at the end of the grip for direct tactile and thumb access.

02

Multi-piece aluminum grip

The cylindrical grip maintains a familiar power-control hand position while accommodating the integrated switch assembly.

03

Machined aluminum lever arm

The solid lever arm provides the structural connection between the throttle grip and the existing throttle-quadrant mechanism.

04

Weight-reduction openings

Machined openings remove unnecessary material from the lever while creating its distinctive engineered profile.

05

Routed switch wiring

The switch wiring follows a controlled path through the assembly for a clean installation and unrestricted throttle movement.

06

Throttle-quadrant interface

The assembly is designed around the original Sling throttle mounting position and movement path, subject to aircraft-level fit verification.

Final dimensions, weight, switch rating and installation-interface specifications will be published with the production configuration.

SVK Aero

Purpose-built cockpit systems for experimental aviation

throttleQ™ grew from a straightforward cockpit question: if the pilot's hand is already managing power, why place the Takeoff/Go-Around command somewhere else? Designed by a Sling TSi builder, it is the first product from SVK Aero. commandQ, a touchscreen aircraft-lighting control interface, is currently in development.

Questions before purchase

Frequently asked questions

Final fitment and system behaviour must always be evaluated for the individual aircraft.

Why place the TO/GA button on the throttle instead of the instrument panel?

During takeoff and go-around, the pilot’s hand is already managing engine power. throttleQ™ places the TO/GA command directly beneath that hand, eliminating the need to reach for a separate panel-mounted button during a demanding phase of flight.

How can throttleQ™ simplify a go-around?

A go-around requires coordinated power application, aircraft control and avionics mode selection. With throttleQ™, the pilot can advance the throttle and activate the configured Go-Around mode from the same hand position, reducing unnecessary hand movement.

What is the benefit during takeoff?

When properly connected and configured, the throttle-mounted button allows the pilot to activate the applicable Takeoff flight-director mode while maintaining a normal power-control hand position.

Why is a consistent button location important?

Panel layouts differ between experimental aircraft, and panel-mounted TO/GA buttons can be installed in widely varying locations. throttleQ™ provides a predictable and tactile control position directly on the throttle grip.

Can the TO/GA button be operated without looking away from the flight instruments?

The button is designed for immediate thumb access while holding the throttle. Its dedicated control and consistent position help the pilot identify and operate it by touch, without first searching the instrument panel.

Does throttleQ™ change how the throttle is normally operated?

No. throttleQ™ maintains the familiar throttle-control format while adding an integrated momentary TO/GA switch. The pilot continues to move the throttle normally to apply or reduce engine power.

Does throttleQ™ help preserve instrument-panel space?

Yes. Integrating the TO/GA control into the throttle eliminates the need to dedicate additional panel space to a separate TO/GA push button.

Why choose throttleQ™ instead of installing a separate push button?

throttleQ™ provides a purpose-built assembly with the button integrated into the grip, controlled wiring routing and a machined throttle lever. It offers a cleaner and more intentional installation than placing a generic push button elsewhere in the cockpit.

Is throttleQ™ useful only when flying an instrument approach?

No. The configured TO/GA command may be used for both Takeoff and Go-Around flight-director modes. Exact functions and annunciations depend on the aircraft’s installed avionics and configuration.

Is throttleQ™ intended to replace pilot action?

No. throttleQ™ does not move the throttle, apply engine power or fly the aircraft. It gives the pilot more direct access to the configured avionics command while the pilot remains responsible for power, aircraft control and mode verification.

Does the button apply takeoff or go-around power?

No. The pilot moves the throttle. The momentary switch sends the configured TO/GA command to compatible avionics.

What aircraft is the assembly designed for?

The current product focus is compatible Sling TSi and Sling High Wing installations. Aircraft-specific fitment and avionics compatibility must be verified before ordering.

Will it work with every Garmin panel?

No universal compatibility claim is made. Operation depends on the installed displays, navigator, autopilot components, wiring and system configuration.

Who should install it?

The owner must select an appropriately qualified installer and determine the approval, inspection, testing and documentation required for the aircraft.

How does online ordering work?

Product information remains on this website. The purchase button transfers the selected assembly to Shopify only for secure checkout, payment, order confirmation and fulfilment updates.
